Played with a standard 28-tile set of dominos instead of dice, players control a caravan of over 2000 people in search of a new home. What they’re leaving and what kinds of strange & wonderful sights they encounter along their journey is up to you. Which groups continue all the way to the caravan’s final destination, however, is up to fate.
Here at Knave of Cups, we love an unusual mechanic – tumbling towers, burning candles, coins, mazes. This is the first game we’ve encountered that uses dominos.
The Details of Our Escape is a collaborative storytelling RPG that follows a group of refugees as they search for their new home. Each player controls a faction within the larger group, taking turns in the lead and narrating events as they unfold. Dominos decide the action at every level of the game, from the cultural specifics of individual factions to the hands players chain together to create the trail itself. What challenges and curiosities lie in wait? How will the factions respond? Who will settle along the way and who will make it to the end of the road?
GM-less with flexible play. Choose your own setting – sci-fi, fantasy, ancient history – or draw dominos and let the game decide. Originally designed for 2-7 people, The Details of Our Escape can also be played solo or with a large group. Make it a one-shot or spread the events over several sessions. Dual-color zine includes original work by Linnea Sterte and Renee Gladman as well as custom-designed paper dominos to cut out.
