You have spent the last several years in a bunker north of the Arctic Circle. You know what country it was in when you and your companions sealed the door, but you have no way of knowing what has happened since then.
Your last companion passed away months ago. That let the food supplies stretch longer than planned, but they are dwindling now. You pull open the bunker door for the first time in almost a decade. You step outside, squinting against the sun’s thin rays.
You take your journals and all the food and gear that remain in the bunker and head south. You have a promise to keep.
You just need to get there.
Endling is a tarot-driven solo journaling game about the last living person on Earth – you. Pack what you can, exit your bunker, and rediscover a changed world. Head south. Traverse wild landscapes and navigate crumbling cities. You have a destination in mind, but you’re not sure if you can get there – the world may be empty of people, but it’s no less dangerous. Steel your resolve and undertake the final human’s final journey.
Unique hexflower game engine determines what lies between your bunker and your goal. Roll a pair of d6 dice to discover tundras, forests, mountains, and more. Your dice also help you manage your resources: Food, Fuel, Gear, and – arguably the most important – your Will. Each round of movement concludes in a two-card tarot draw. Your first card points to a prompt – a challenge your endling faced in their travels. A rock slide. A chilling urban discovery. A animal who wants to be friends. The symbolism of the second card provides inspiration for how your character reacted. Was the problem resolved? Overcome? Was something important lost? Or gained?
