Description
Welcome to the ZOETROPE Time Agency.
In this second edition of the core roleplaying game, ZOETROPE takes your play group on an impromptu time travel journey run on cards. There is no pre-game preparation to do, simply sit down, shuffle the decks, deal out the cards, and get moving…
…you’re the rent-a-cops of time travel. Fix time, or screw it up. Up to you!
Zoetrope: Death Didn’t Take is a card-based, multiplayer, sci-fi workplace comedy. Your workplace? A time travel agency tasked with mending the past. And, uh, they only hire temps. The most realistic part? Like many temp worker-based situations, you might end up corralled with someone who simply fucks around and makes everything worse.
Zoetrope is an RPG but there’s no voluminous game book, no dice, no minis, and most importantly, no prep. Everything comes from your cards, from the Traits you embody to the Weapons you wield, even the Actions available to you. Gather your team, jump into the Timeline, and get to work. Naturally, obstacles abound. You’ll do your best (or your worst?) but fixing time is hard and, eventually, you’ll probably all fail. You might even die. But fear not: you’re time travelers! Simply rewind the Timeline, gather fresh cards, and try again! And again. And again??? You’ll all get it eventually, with plenty of shenanigans along the way.
Excellent for those who crave chaos, players whose personal goals involve “getting more comfortable with failure,” and anyone who lives for a sci-fi/fantasy show’s “time loop” episode.
