Description
Think about screenplays and films, or the final episode of a television show that you know will not be renewed. Think about saying goodbye to friends who are moving away. Think about the last day of summer vacation. Think about funerals. Think about the restaurant that closed all those years ago, and the noodles they used to serve. Think about the best birthday party you ever had. Think about putting off the last chapter of a book until tomorrow. Think about grief, and relief. Think about the end of a world. Think about the feeling of emerging from a movie theater into a dark parking lot, under the stars.
World Ending Game is a multiplayer anthology for bidding your characters farewell. Your adventure is through, the mystery solved (or the evil defeated, or the heist complete, etc). Don’t just walk away, finish your story properly. Wind-down. Decompress. Give yourselves closure and your characters a satisfying, cinematic send-off!
To set the tone, each scene (or Ending) includes a full-page, commissioned artist’s work as well as differing layouts, fonts, and color schemes. Players need only be true to their intuition and their characters, while the GM – now the Director – controls the ‘camera’ and gives the scene structure and flow. Together, you’ll all tell a final set of stories, like the last 20 minutes of an action-packed, emotional movie.
World Ending Game is thoughtfully executed and deliciously dramatic. Game includes an overview of mechanics and twenty Endings, as well as classic film components like Credits. Endings range from light to poignant. They include: a final truth, a long-awaited kiss, 20 years later, and a tableaux (imagining a collection of stills, like party photos from the end of a 90s teen movie).
