Well Made is for anyone who knits, crochets, cosplays, quilts, mends, braids, dyes, stitches, felts, patches, hems, or occasionally staples, glues, and tapes. It’s most particularly for anyone who dreams of spinning moonbeams, imagines knitting unicorn fur, or longs for a shirt made of interstellar silk.
Well Made is a solo+ storytelling game, a celebration of the process of creation. Follow a fiber crafter’s journey from initial commission to their project’s completion. What’s the request? Whatever your imagination wants to make. A quilt. A costume. A parade float. A collection of bulbous, knit neon sculptures meant to hang from the ceiling, disconcerting all those below.
Appreciate the commonalities all creators face as ideas become reality: initial sketches, materials research, shopping lists. Glorious discoveries. Setbacks and frustrations. Happy accidents that shift your goals. Maybe the moonbeams you’re spinning end up three subtly different shades, but it looks kinda cool. Or the unicorn fur you’re knitting with is too slippery so you have to research how to wax it. Or you accidentally stain your interstellar silk because you forgot it can only be misted with fae-blessed water (never tap water, oops). Guess this gown will have a celestial… abstract… pattern! No matter the setting, no matter the project, trials and tribulations come for us all. But, hey! You know you can do this! You know you can do magic.
Takes 1-2 hours to play. Add chance to your story with dice rolls at key points. Rather play in a group? It might take you a little longer (just like IRL group projects) but you can do that, too!
