One player takes the role of The Serpent, a charismatic sword-wielder. The other player takes the role of The Spider, a highly intelligent necromancer. Your souls are bonded together.
The Serpent and The Spider is a duet for anyone who wants to tell a story about ass-kicking in a fantasy techno-future. Magic and rocketships? Yes! In fact, you have pledged to use your powers to hold the line between the common citizen and the corruption of corporations. It’s a… timely application of imagining, for sure.
Gameplay is straightforward – death, dice, and storytelling. The Serpent (the charming brawler) uses two d8s on their traits Sword and Charisma, while The Spider (the shrewd necromancer) uses two d4s on their traits Necro and Brains. You’re a good team, since your skills complement one another: The Serpent kills, and death feeds The Necromancer’s blood magic. So, sure, you can use your traits apart, but you’ll always gain a bonus if you choose to act together.
And just how will you use your powers? Game includes a variety of suitably action-packed sci-fi scenarios, from assisting the rebellion inside a corporate HQ to crashing a swanky gala on a newly-minted planetoid. The vibe, however, is all yours – serious and dark or silly and comedic, send yourselves on whatever flavor of adventure you choose. Plus, portable quarter-page size means you and your Serpent (or your Spider) can play wherever the mood strikes you!
