In the future, the ravaged planet burns while the wealth gap continues to grow. A gargantuan data center stands as a monument to the insidious and insatiable greed of the hyper-rich. Many have tried to resist and break in, but its walls are all but impenetrable.
You are frog folk! Born in an icy lake in the bowels of the mega data center, you have infiltrated and spent your life training. Now, your mission begins: destroy the data center from the inside!
The Frog Squad in Hearts Against the Machine is a three-player cute animal cyberpunk RPG. You and two pals are human no more. Now, you are Moss, Croak, and Toadstool, three frogs who are about to do something amazing: destroy an evil data center. How will you pull this off? Well, the frogs have been training their whole lives. Their human players, however, must strategically use hands of playing cards. Yes, in Hearts Against the Machine, action is driven by the trick-taking mechanics in the card game Hearts.
Game is small but mighty (like its protagonists) and was made to be played over several hourlong sessions, each seeing the frogs dismantling ever-more essential components of the data center. Game includes complete rules and stats for the frogs as well as a variety of charming, hand-drawn, storybook-style illustrations.
