The Conservatory is a tarot-driven solo+ storytelling RPG detailing the history and exploits of a notorious magical institution. Oft criticized for their approach to the Work – and rightly so – The Conservatory has left its mark on the arcane world. But how did they come to be? What strange/wonderful/terrible influence have they wrought? And where are they headed next? Be it cloaked in medicine, bureaucracy, or theology, and focused on summoning, spellcasting, or divination, one thing’s for sure – these folks have their fingers in everything.
The Conservatory can be played solo or as a GM-less storytelling game for up to 5 players. It requires a standard, 78-card Rider Waite-style tarot deck and a way to record what the cards reveal. Game provides prompts divided into a series of eras, as well as folks to meet loosely based on tarot meanings. Great on its own as an imaginative exercise or for spinning up surreal, powerful institutions to drop into the dark fantasy game of your choice.
