Description
The Cloister is a short, one-session storytelling game for two players.
One person plays The Pilot, who is finally in orbit around their home planet after a very long time away.
The other person plays The Operator, a stranger on the ground who is trying to help the pilot get home.
The story takes place between the two of you in conversation as you navigate atmospheric reentry and fill the dead air of your radio with stories.
The Cloister is a chill, introspective duet in which a lonesome traveler is welcomed home. It is also a Risograph-printed artifact full of sick space art. Half of its images are creator Everest Pipkin’s original work, while the other half are curated plates from a public domain volume called – get ready – An original theory or new hypothesis of the universe : founded upon the laws of nature, and solving by mathematical principles the general phaenomena of the visible creation, and particularly the Via Lactea : compris’d in nine familiar letters from the author to his friend, and illustrated with upwards of thirty graven and mezzotinto plates, by the best masters, published in 1750 by Thomas Wight.
An excellent object for the stellar enthusiast as well as a charming diversion for two. Game takes about half an hour – about the time of a real atmospheric reentry.
