Brokur Longneck of House Grandrock has passed away and you are his only surviving relative(s).

In his will, Brokur has bequeathed to you the cursed mines of the Long Belt, its dilapidated settlement, and the leadership of House Grandrock.

However, other dwarf houses seek to overthrow you and take control of the valuable minerals hidden deep within those cold tunnels.

To complicate matters further, most of the mines’ galleries are haunted by fire spitting demons from the underworld.

Stoneburner is a solo+ sci-fi/fantasy game set in a world where both “sci-fi” and “fantasy” are turned up as high as they go. Here, spaceships run on a mix of technology and magic. Humans, elves, and dwarves hold the power, but every creature imaginable lives, works, and dies across every type of planet, from neon cityscapes to pastoral farmlands to rusted backwaters. The arcane is powerful, but unpredictable. Huge corporations rake in profits while the poor toil, hoping to strike it rich.

Play as a clan of dwarves exploring demon-haunted space mines. They’re yours now, the mines – the whole of The Long Belt, in fact! And The Long Belt’s full of treasure! Unfortunately, it’s also full of deadly fire demons. Will you take on the challenge? Explore. Build. Map the mines. Fight demons as you keep your crew safe, collect and use resources, re-build a thriving colony, and if you live long enough, maybe even repair your clan’s galactic standing.

Game is solo-friendly, playable alone or with a GM and a crew of up to five. Built on the Breathless SRD, game is action-forward, encouraging players to explore and take risks. Skills are tied to polyhedral dice, d12 to d4, rolled against a 1-5 scale of success. Rolls begin high (d12, easy win) and reduce with ‘fatigue’ after each use (down to a d4, success with a minor complication). Want a reset? Catch Your Breath and rest (but gain a complication). Game includes 10 character kits, locations to explore, treasure to unearth, and stuff to build (when you can afford it), as well as mechanics for combat, looting, crafting, and community management.
