Stella Quest is a celestial, metaphysical trick-taking game. The stars above us are alive! Not only alive, but so curious about humans they sometimes come to earth to study our emotions. You are these star spirits, playing your collection of emotions (hand of cards) one by one each round. Win the round (through a variety of tricks) and the emotion (card) that led it is yours. First player to collect all six emotions wins!
The twist? Lots of mechanics add chaos and keep the action unpredictable. Some cards are double-sided, allowing you to see what your opponents hold. Game also utilizes Starlight Tokens, a measure of a spirit’s life energy. Players may gain or lose tokens through a variety of in-game situations, total token loss resulting in a star forever-dimmed (the player loses). Additionally, the Black Star is always watching, a jealous, hungry spirit who takes tokens from players whose light shines too brightly (a player wins two rounds in a row).
Stella Quest includes 12 of each of four colors of cards (green, yellow, red, and blue), all boasting dreamy, celestial illustrations by Doming. Game also includes plenty of double-sided Starlight Tokens as well as an acrylic Black Star figure.
