Knave of Cups Deep Lore: once upon a time, when Jen was in college, she and her pals started a circus. Between classes (and with no prior experience), this crew of assorted ne’er do wells taught themselves to perform with a variety of white gas-soaked, kevlar props. The goal? A fire show at the end of the year. Naturally, there was an alarming lack of oversight. One of Jen’s friends learned to breathe fire with Bacardi 151 (the pros use lamp oil – it doesn’t get you very, very drunk). Miraculously, everyone learned cool-looking tricks and no one got hurt. And the Big Show? Miraculously, it looked very cool and no one got hurt.

Scout is a circus-building game. Every card a performer, every hand a show. What’s better, a bunch of sweet BMX trick riders or a family of acrobats? Shuffle the clowns. Trade your human cannonball. Strategize until you have a killer set of jugglers. Competing circuses are working hard, too, grabbing acts left and right, and only one troupe can win. Who will produce the Greatest Show on Earth?
