Description
You are an Engraved. Cursed to wander the shattered world of Obron, you seek the power to take back control of your fate. Explore Realms, kill Rune Lords, and carve the power of fate into your very being.
Obron is a god’s grave. Dive too deep and it will be yours too.
Solo RPGs are an ever-growing family of possibilities. Because sometimes you wanna introspect on what it means to be alive but sometimes you wanna find a cool sword and fight something.
Rune is a soulslike dark fantasy solo game with mechanics that balance exploration and combat. Perfect for fans of Bloodborne, Dark Souls, and Elden Ring. Explore Realms, each their own map complete with locations, loot, enemies, and secrets. Realms each offer their own unique rules, too, like a clock to track the time – a Realm that cycles quickly between day and night might offer different actions depending on the time of day. Run into a foe? Rune’s battle system is a tactical 4×4 grid. Dice rolls determine both your enemy’s moveset as well as the power you can assign to your weapons and equipment, making every skirmish a dangerous, turn-based puzzle.
With atmospheric illustrations as well as a multitude of locations (including 3rd party content from delightfully strange to classic fantasy), Rune will immerse you in grungy magic, shining swords, and weird physics for as long as you want (and without the electricity bill).
- Requires a handful of d6 dice (optimally very different), a battle grid, and minis or tokens, as well as a character sheet, something to write with, and a scrap of paper to write on
- Named one of Gizmodo’s best RPGs of 2022 and one of Dicebreaker’s best solo RPGs of 2023!
