Description
You are freelancers in the solar system of the 24th century. Experience the faded glory of Earth, the industrial warrens of Mars, and the futuristic dystopias of Ganymede; but especially, try to survive in the no man’s land between it all, Null Space.
NULL_SPACE is a multiplayer science fiction/cyberpunk RPG about interplanetary gig workers in the 24th century. In the distant future, humanity has conquered space, reaching its arms (along with its myriad exploitative economies) into the stars. Naturally, there’s plenty of work too dangerous, weird, or off-the-books for respectable folks. But you are not respectable folks. Create your freelancers, pile aboard your ship, and snag jobs where you find them. Earth, perhaps, or Mars, or far, far, beyond.
Game balances crunch and player preference, using the d6-based TOTAL//EFFECT system to manage stats (skills, abilities, items, escalating tension, challenges, goals) while giving players flexibility in approach and resolution. Take the jobs you want, bring what you think you’ll use, use it… maybe, differently than you intended, and handle your issues by kicking ass – or not! Great for fans of Alien, Cowboy Bebop, or Firefly – not so much Star Trek (or other, prosperous, egalitarian futures).
There are no replicators or laser swords here. It’s just people, what they’re willing to do to themselves and one another, and the uncaring void.
