There are few artists who have left such a permanent mark on pop-culture in the way that French artist and cartoonist Moebius (aka Jean Giraud) did.
While perhaps he first became internationally famous for his comic and cover work for Heavy Metal magazine, he also worked as a concept artist on some of the most iconic scifi films of the 80s and 90s, notably Alien and the Fifth Element. He collaborated with avant-garde filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky both on the designs for his un-produced Dune film, and later on the comic series The Incal, perhaps Moebius’ most well-known work outside the US. Moebius also is known for his work with Marvel comics in the late 80s, as well as his own long-running comic series, such as Arzach, The Airtight Garage, and Blueberry.
