Description
Through improvisation and collaboration, you will craft and narrate the story of the knight’s struggles. You’ll shape and portray the world together and take turns portraying the knight as they explore it.
It weaves together collaborative storytelling and procedural generation. Through this system, no two stories will ever be the same.
Knight Forlorn is a collaborative storytelling game following a lone Knight as they wander a dark fantasy world. Three roles shape the tale: The Lead, The Narrator, and The Chorus. Players rotate through roles, building upon each others’ contributions and using improv-inspired mechanics to narrate the Knight’s journey.
The Lead describes the Knight’s actions and their state of mind. The Narrator controls the world and all the encounters in it. The Chorus adds details and mood for both the world and the Knight. Action unfolds through draws from a playing card deck – meet friends and battle foes, follow prompts to uncover secrets, and manage the Knight’s strength as they explore the crumbling city of Burghal.
While designed for three players, game can be played solo or duet as well. In duet play, The Narrator and The Chorus become one role while The Lead remains a single role. A solo player, naturally, rotates through each of the roles in turn.
