Have you ever wanted to play as a broadsword-wielding dolphin? How about a luchador dolphin? Oh, you haven’t until this very moment but you do now? WELL, HAVE WE GOT THE GAME FOR YOU BUCKO!!!!
Everything is Dolphins is a game about, get this, Dolphins. In it you do dolphin things, like fight giant crabs, and wear extremely cool leather jackets.
Everything is Dolphins is both a rules-light RPG and an intimate historical document. Sometime in the late 90s or early 2000s, Ray Weiss (who, I’m guessing was probably 13-16 at the time) wrote a game called “Ekko the Dungeon” on scraps of notebook paper. On the first page he asks whoever owns the rights to Ecco the Dolphin to not sue him should they ever find this document. Sometime in the early 2010s, Tim Hutchings came into possession of these scraps of notebook paper, and Everything Is Dolphins is the result. The text has been edited, and illustrations have been provided by various artists, but the game is very much the same game that Ray wrote for themselves and their friends, many years ago. The book includes all of Ray’s notes as an appendix, complete in their frenetic, scribbled glory. (My personal favorite detail is the robot dolphin whose brain is a copy of Neuromancer, just saying.)
