Created by Oregon search and rescue doctor Christopher Van Tilburg, Don’t Die Out There includes 52 fully-functional playing cards, each a piece of survival information, as well as four indexes for the topics covered in each suit.
What will you learn? Diamonds are ‘survival essentials’ – building shelter, using a compass, and emergency signals. Spades are ‘assessing the situation,’ keeping a cool head to figure out what’s going on, what you need, and how to get it. Hearts and clubs are medical – ‘basic first aid’ like cuts and sprains, as well as more intense stuff like CPR and spine injuries.
