Description
Disease has come to this town. Law has come to this town. Chaos has come to this town. Death has come to this town.
Death Has Come To This Town is a dark, folk horror storytelling game for exactly three players. A plague threatens the peace and cohesion of a small town and a trio of characters maneuver for dominance, hoping their agenda wins the day. The Scholar has facts on their side – they are a student, a researcher, but have been forced to become the town’s de facto Head Doctor. They remain ever-curious. The Agent serves bureaucracy – they are a rising star and could receive glowing recognition if they organize successful disaster mitigation efforts. The Firebrand is a wild card – they don’t trust the government and hold sway over the townsfolk. They view chaos as an opportunity.
Game is GMless and unfolds over three sessions. Each player acts on behalf of their character as well as one of The Powers That Be: The Disease (which can progress into The Outbreak), The Municipality (which can devolve into The Occupation), and The Fringe (which can become The Uprising). Game includes instructions for characters and narrative structure as well as for tracking stats and determining success/failure with d6 dice rolls. How will this town’s story end?
- For three players, requires a d6 die and a way to jot down your progress
