David B. Mattingly is a prolific illustrator who has created the covers for over 2000 books. You may know him for the 50 Animorphs covers he designed, but he also paints a mean wizard or two.
These cards were produced in 1995, relatively early in Mattingly’s career, although already he had an expansive and diverse body of work. All of his compositions here are vibrant and colorful, and often juxtapose the fantastic and the mundane. The subject matter covers pretty much every variety of genre fiction around in the 80s and 90s: wizards, spaceships, aliens, futuristic cities, hardboiled detectives. Some art even uses then-cutting-edge 3d modeling. These cards are colorful, lush, and full of delightful surprises.
- These trading cards are vintage stock and were produced in 1995 by FPG.
- Because of their age, cards may stick together and slightly degrade the print. (Gently flex the cards with your hand before opening to help with this.)
- Each sealed pack comes with 10 random cards, and there are 90 cards in the complete set.
- Chase cards include rare “Metallic Storm” cards and Autographed cards.
