Description

A coliseum fighter rises to glory before falling to an opponent’s blade in the ring. A struggling portside town becomes a thriving hub of commerce before being absorbed by a nearby metropolis. A centuries old Redwood tree lives out its final days in solitude.

What subject will you follow and how will the passage of time lead to its transformative end?

Arc is a casual, multiplayer cooperative storytelling game. Follow the ‘life’ of your chosen focus – anything! An internet meme. An alien colony on a faraway world. A fierce dragon. Assemble a group of Narrarators (players), then pick your Subject (a single thing that can end). Over the course of ten Clicks (story beats), Narrators’ ideas and opinions push and pull their Subject through its Desires (actions) until its demise, after which each Narrator contributes to its Legacy (how it will be remembered).

Arc is uniquely component-less – diceless, GMless, no pen or paper required  – making it great for travel, chill nights in, and quick meetups at your favorite bar. Game includes basic rules and large-group rules as well as plenty of suggestions for Subjects and Desires. Action is determined through a thumbs up/thumbs down mechanic. Desires are proposed, then re-stated as yes-or-no questions toward which Narrators display a thumbs up or thumbs down. Each possible result – majority up, split, or majority down – comes with a cost in Clicks as well as a prompt for the next Desire. Your primary, Golden Rule? The Subject ceases to be at the end of the game – ten or more Clicks – and never before.

  • 6-page, 5.5×7.25″, b&w, handmade zine, random variations in cover colors
  • For 2-4 players
  • Content note: while your subject may not die, per se, you will encounter themes of finality, ending, and loss
