“Anima Mundi” is a Latin term which loosely translates to “the world’s soul.” Originally coined by Plato, it is the belief that all living things on this planet are connected as a single spiritual entity.
Our planet is steeped in mystical energy: the magic of a moth in flight, the introspective repose of a fallen bird, the joyful abundance of a school of fish. Megan Wyreweden’s Anima Mundi Tarot is a surreal blend of natural scenes and Rider-Waite imagery. A vulture, wings unfurled, attempts to land atop a stack of gleaming swords. Mist curls, cyclic, through a rainforest canopy. An elephant shakes pentacles from a tree, while bioluminescent jellyfish thread their way around a collection of golden cups.
Anima Mundi features an ecological Major Arcana as well as sky-bound Swords, oceanic Cups, earthly Swords, and industrious Pentacles.
