Description
A Land Once Magic is a conversational post-fantasy worldbuilding TTRPG.
What is a post-fantasy world?
A world of molten metal where society exists only on airships fueled by elemental blood.
A world of wandering titans that leave warring ecosystems in their wake.
A world where a theocratic regime rules a frozen sea with spellcraft stolen from unborn gods.
A world that shakes off the dull colors of traditional fantasy and invites the full spectrum of your imagination.
A Land Once Magic is a surreal post-fantasy cooperative world building game. Zero prep and GM-less, you’ll reveal extraordinary places shaped through playing card draws, evocative tables, and your imagination. Creator Viditya Voleti describes post-fantasy as a “new direction,” meant to push beyond the limitations of more traditional fantasy, “interrogate the tropes and canon, mix it with some new vigor, and move forward.” Weirder, stranger, freer. More wondrous, more psychedelic, more magical.
This storytelling game is a beautiful artifact, as excellent to display as it is to read and play. It boasts a textural, open spine binding, evocative watercolor-and-ink art throughout, and a charming, portable A6-size. Truly, all you need to add is a deck of playing cards (and maybe way to jot down your ideas, you’re gonna have plenty).
What will you discover? Where will you go?
- A6-size, full-color, open spine book
- Multiplayer (but like many world building games, solo is an option as well)
- Requires a deck of playing cards
- For fans of games like i’m sorry did you say street magic and A Quiet Year
